Welcome to thoughtful, organic beauty
Hello Joyous is an organic, plant-based, sustainable beauty brand here to bring more joy to your day.
As a surprise to no one, the Joyous Health team likes to chat about all things natural beauty (even Walker gets in on the chit chat from time to time), and we regularly do so, comparing what we're loving, what works and what doesn't. In fact, some of my very favourite products have come recommended during a Joyous chat session – I've only been here for a few months, so that's saying something!
On that note, we're kicking off a new blog column called Overheard at Joyous Health, in which we'll share the things we've been talking about lately and product recommendations for natural beauty, food, books, podcasts, you name it! (As I said, we like to chat :)
First up, our favourite natural lipsticks!
Joy
"I absolutely love W3LL People's Nudist Multi-Use Cream Stick in Nude Berry because I can use it on my cheeks or my lips, but 90% of the time I use it on my lips! It provides just a hint of colour for daytime and it layers really nicely so the more colour I apply, the darker it gets. I often put a little lip balm over top of the colour because it's quite matte. "
"Whenever I'm doing a TV segment, going on date with my hubs or need a boost of confidence for a presentation, my go-to is Ilia's Neon Angel because it's a serious burst of colour in a punchy magenta! I love how bright and refreshing it is! The texture is so smooth and it really lasts a long time."
Joy's honourable mention: "I really love Boosh's Lip Plumping Balm. It's my favourite lip balm because it's super nourishing and I love putting it over top of the Ilia or W3LL People lipsticks. I also love its lipsticks – a purely Canadian brand and all the colours I've tried have been super pretty. The texture is smooth and creamy!"
Amanda
For date nights and special occasions, I've been loving Kosas' Weightless Lip Colour in Thrillist. This red feels flattering, pretty and sexy all at once, and I am here for it! It's enriched with mango seed butter (like our Smooth Like Butta body butter), which means it's super hydrating, not drying.
This lip butter is my go-to for everyday lip colour. It goes on like a tinted lip balm without the shiny finish – just like you ate a cherry popsicle. I wear it in Cherry (the perfect subtle berry shade) basically every day.
Rachel
"For more everyday wear, I also like Ilia's Tinted Lip Conditioner in Blossom Lady. It’s a bit more subtle with a natural look to it, making it suitable to wear daily to the office or on a first date when you don’t want to appear to be trying too hard!"
"I don't wear a lot of lipstick but when I do, I love Ilia's High Impact Lipstick in Knockout. It's hydrating with full coverage in a super cutesicle pinky hue."
Carol
"Whenever I want a spot of colour, I’ll slosh on some RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek in Paradise. It’s subtle enough and isn’t too tacky. If I’m feeling extra fancy — or as Beyoncé would say 'feeling myself' — I’ll wear my Bite Beauty Matte Crème Lip Crayon in Framboise."
"I can’t say that I’m much of a lipstick kind of gal — mascara is more my thing! My go-to for everyday wear is usually a balm (remember Lip Smackers growing up?!) like Eos’ active lip balm in aloe or my new fave lemon!"

Love this article! And very informative! You gals are like me....soft and simple but likes a bit of spunk. Also love the idea of this type of blogpost. People are always asking you what your favourites are so now you can reach to everyone. Would also love posts of things that are NOT your favourites.

Great list of lipstick products! I bought the Ilia Tinted Lip Conditioner in the colour Crimson and Clover (on well.ca) and it's wonderful. I love it. :)
ReplyThanks!! Those are great colours :)
I love the Beautycounter lipglosses!
ReplyI absolutely love Boosh lipsticks! Sarah is amazing and the product is fabulous. Plus, I love the idea of supporting a local business run by a group of young women.
ReplyYes for sure! Love her stuff too.
Beautycounter has great lipsticks and glosses - clean beauty products from a Bcorp company!
ReplyI like their products, I just find them so overpriced!
And $18 for tea Joy? $38 for Body Butter? Thanks for the support of small business!
I'm not sure I understand your comment. Can you please explain? We are a small business so why are you saying "thanks for the support".
Beautycounter is my small business and I found your comment about it to be negative. I would appreciate it if you could remove your comment and mine. Thank you
ReplyBeautycounter is not a small business. They make MULTI-millions of dollars per year. It probably feels like a small business because they don't pay their reps well and their products are so overpriced TBH. We make our products in very small batches with organic ingredients and they are made locally. They are not mass-produced, which is why you pay for what you get which is exactly stands to reason why Beautycounter is overpriced.
