Welcome to thoughtful, organic beauty
Hello Joyous is an organic, plant-based, sustainable beauty brand here to bring more joy to your day.
There are literally hundreds of products to choose from at the department store promising to make you glow and prevent premature aging.
My motto is this: If you can eat it, then it's definitely safe to slather on your body. And I can pretty much guarantee you the majority of lotions, potions and masks are NOT edible. Not only that, they are chock full of more chemicals than a factory. YUCK!
So I created this moisturizing anti-aging facial mask with three ingredients: avocado, organic matcha and almond milk. Why did I choose these three ingredients? Well, I'm glad you asked! Here's why:
Avocado:
At nearly 85% fat content, avocados are incredibly moisturizing thanks to those fatty acids.
Extremely hydrating because avocados are actually quite water-dense.
Antioxidant benefits. Avocados are a wonderful source of Vitamin C. Antioxidants prevent premature aging because they neutralize free radicals, hence why you see so many beauty products with vitamin C added.
Matcha green tea (if you don't have matcha you can regular steep green tea instead):
Matcha green tea has over 500% more antioxidants than goji berries. It is one of the highest ORAC value superfoods known on the planet.
10 times the nutritional potency of regular brewed green tea.
Excellent source of polyphenols which help prevent wrinkling, inflammation, even cancer.
Almond Milk:
Hydrating. Wonderful way to quench your skin's thirst because the majority of milk is water.
Excellent source of beautifying vitamin E. This powerful antioxidant has been shown to protect the skin against cancer and sun damage.
Ingredients in this anti-aging skin quenching mask:
1 soft avocado
1 tsp matcha tea
1/2 cup almond milk
Place all three ingredients into a small food processor or blender and combine until smooth - less than 30 seconds!
Slather all over your beautiful face and leave on for 10-15 minutes at least. It will feel cool, fresh and moisturizing.
You will have enough for two people, so have fun with it!
Here's my "after" photo. I don't usually show photos of myself sans mascara or blush (note: I am Irish, we sleep with blush on). So be kind!! My skin feels like silk now. Oh ya!
Please do try this mask and let me know what you think!
Do you have a favourite kitchen ingredient that helps you beautify?
Be joyous,
Joy

This mask looks great! I've been using matcha a lot in my smoothies for the extra antioxidant boost, but I hadn't thought of using it on my skin! I'm definitely trying this mask this weekend!

Hi Joy! I'm glad to find your website, it's fantastic! I'm living in Spain. Here is starting a new concept for natural and bio beauty.I do myself moisturizers and eye creams with natural ingredients and Matcha green tea is one of them! is a fantastic as cosmetic product and healthy drink too (I use mix with orange juice...umm that's delicious!). I'll send you beauty recipes!! Thanks, Noelia.
ReplyHi Joy, this mask is great but I find I have a lot left over. Can it be stored in the fridge for a couple of days?
ReplyHi Ann, The avocados in the mask will start to oxidize and turn fairly quickly once you mash them up, so I'd recommend using it right away to get the most out of the beneficial nutrients. Kate - Joyous Health Team

Nice Post! Avocado is one of my favorite fruit as the healthy fats in avocados moisturize your skin and reduce skin inflammation. I am definitely going to try this one. Thanks for the post.
