Welcome to thoughtful, organic beauty
Hello Joyous is an organic, plant-based, sustainable beauty brand here to bring more joy to your day.
When I was a kid, chocolate milkshakes in the scorching heat of the summer were absolute perfection. Mind you, back then I was buying a milkshake from the corner store with my allowance and I'm sure the ingredients consisted of sugar, modified milk ingredients and chemicals. However, I was none the wiser at 10 years old.
I've always loved chocolate milkshakes (and malt shakes too -- remember those?) but now that I'm all grown up, I make them just as tasty but super healthy too! The best of both worlds right? ;)
Uber Creamy Raspberry Avocado Smoothie that have I have been loving smoothies these days. Of course one of the main reasons is the warmer temperatures mean cooling foods are more appropriate these days and my body is naturally choosing a smoothie over oatmeal. I encourage you to do the same and listen to the cues your body is giving you.
Also, check out my recipe for sweet potato protein muffins here .
Be sure to top your milkshake with some raw cacao nibs for a crunch and hit of antioxidants.
Let me know if you like this recipe.. would love to hear from you!
Have a joyous day!
Joy
Nice recipe Joy. Chocolate always be temptation for us, isn't it? : ) http://dietweightlosshub.net
ReplyMade the smoothie this morning. I used half a banana because the avocado wasn't quite ripe enough and added cinnamon - just cause I love cinnamon! Delicious - and kept me going until way past lunch :-)
ReplyAnother yummy smoothie for breakfast! Still doing well on the meal plan Joy and incorporating more of the recipes from the book. Delicious!
ReplyHi What kind of blender and juicer do you have? Thx :)
ReplyHi Meredith, Joy's got a Breville juicer and a Vitamix blender. Kate - Joyous Health Team
If I have a half an avocado in my smoothie for breakfast most mornings, is that too much avocado? Is there such a thing as too much avocado? Thanks!

Hey Joy! I was wondering about your specific thoughts on the organic so delicious coconut milk that’s unsweetened? It seems pretty good, but I was just concerned about the additives in it? First of all I was wondering if it was fortified? If so is that okay? I was also wondering about the gellan gum, sunflower lecithin, and locust bean gum? What exactly are those and are they good/safe to consume? Basically, I was wondering if drinking this coconut milk would help lead me to joyous health? Thank you so much for your help! ,Gracie
ReplyIt's tough to avoid additives these days in store-bought nut milk unless you're buying a premium small batch brand and paying around $10 for less than a litre! Those additives, are relatively harmless in small amounts. I know gellan gum has been linked to some digestive discomfort. Chris Kresser wrote a good series on food additives and he talks about some of them here: https://chriskresser.com/harmful-or-harmless-guar-gum-locust-bean-gum-and-more/
So if you were slurping a latte on a daily basis with all these additives and you've got digestive problems then I would definitely switch brands. Mylko is one of the cleanest brands I've seen.
Hope that helps!
Looking for the brand of vanilla protein powder you use/recommend. I don’t see it in the post as you’ve indicated🤷♀️
ReplyWeird! It looks as if half the post is missing! I like Genuine Health vegan fermented protein powder.
I made this tonight for supper. I have tons of food in the house, but didn't feel like cooking and felt like something a little decadent. Instead of an avocado I added half a banana and a tablespoon of coconut butter. Super delicious and way healthier than the hot fudge sundae for dinner that I was contemplating. Thanks as always for your yummy recipes.
ReplyThat's a great idea! Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi Joy. Ijust made this 20 mins ago and Ilove it. Ilove chocolate and almond butter together more than peanut butter.
ReplySuch a perfect combination! You'll love my latest recipe (not up yet) for chocolate almond butter cups.

ReplyYep! Check out Manitoba Harvest Protein. That's what I use. :)
